I have one who likes to sit (insists!) on my chest- my lap would be preferable. My other cat sits behind me on the chair and tries to shove me off.

Haven't tried to sew with a cat on my lap but have sewed with a small parrot on my shoulder. The only way he lets me do anything is to be with me then nags at me to go bye bye when he gets bored.

I've tried that! She really likes sitting behind the sewing machine and flicking her tail into the needle area!

I made a little fuzzy blankie and put it on the shelf right in front of me. Harley lays up there all the time when I am sewing.

Yes, both of my cats want to be friendly when I am sitting at the sewing machine (and usually in a panic trying to get things finished for second Saturday BOM). It doesn't help that we live upstairs and if I'm sitting at my sewing machine, they can balance on my shoulder and look down at the street! It's pretty much impossible to sew that way.

no, but I occasionally have a lap full of dog., I'm short and have very little room on my lap, so I just quit until she gets down which isn't very long.

Everyone's story is so cute!! I have 2 siamese brothers who also love my sewing nook. Especially the vocal one who can be in any other part of the house but somehow knows when I am trying to quilt because there he is & where does he lay?? On top of the fabric as I'm trying to measure or cut. And if I try to move him, he won't budge & then starts meowing at me to leave him alone. Geez, I thought I had been there first!!

I love these stories!! My two cats help me sew every day. Wouldn't have it any other way...
