Good idea Twinkie! I usually use leftover scraps from quilt projects because I basically stay with Warm N Natural which is low loft but I bet the fleece would work well too. I gotta try it - making 4 hexangonal tabletoppers for family memebers for Greek Easter......

Is the stuff you are using Kunin felt or wool felt?

Most of the felt in this price range is polyester, so shrinkage is not a problem.

I learned something new here today and that is my daily goal. Just an FYI to tell the difference between wool and poly felt, take a small snip from the piece and put in an ashtray. Take a lighter to it, if it melts it's synthetic and if it burns - it's wool. Happy Quilting.

The felt you are using is most likely poly and not cotton and it also melts with intense heat ... like a hot pan or an iron.

For coasters, it does not soak up condensation like warm and natural. However, your cotton top would help with that.

I use it a lot for the backing on Christmas ornaments, certain wall hangings, especially once-a-year Christmas items, drawer lining, bottoms of boxes, lamps, hunting racks and so much more.

    Good luck!

Lots of felt is polyester now so shrinking is not a problem but in potholders it might melt I like a layer of insulbite and a layer of cotton batting for potholders.

I have been planning on making a table runner. Will remember the tip to use washable felt. Thanks.
