Have you ever used a presser foot w/ a guide?

I have two quarter inch feet...one is plastic with the metal guide. Be sure to occasionally check to be sure you are getting an accurate qtr inch. After a lot of use, those guides become bit 'sprung'.

I have 2 with a guide for my featherweights. I take my featherweights to our sewing circle and we piece a quilt top for charity. I found I don't have to square up as much and the blocks are so much closer to the size they need to be. I think all the ladies have different quarter inch and some come closer to half inch. It just made it easier on me in the long run.

Thank you, Ladies! I'm glad to know that so many of you like this item. I can't wait to try it, though I just finally mastered sewing using the foot as a guide. I'm new and have been practicing with the foot that came with my machine.

I have quarter inch feet both with and without a guide for my Bernina. I hate the one with the guide, absolutely hate it. Fabric slips underneath the guide unseen or too far under the foot unnoticed until it's too late. It's so much easier to watch the edge of the fabric as it approaches and goes under any foot without having a guide on it to block that view.
That said, I mostly use the open toe embroidery foot (20) with the needle one click to the right. It gives me a perfect scant quarter inch seam allowance every time...with no edge guide.

I bought the 1/4" foot with guide for my Pfaff when they first came out. I think it helped when I first started quilting and I really needed all the help I could get. Now I just use a 1/4" foot without the guide and like it a lot better. I also have a stitch in the ditch foot with a guide, and I absolutely love it for stitching in the ditch. It really does a great job of keeping you in the ditch.

I absolutely love mine. I have a Janome. You do need to check and make sure it truely makes a 1/4 inch seam. I thought mine was but it isn't. I have to move my needle one click for and exact 1/4 inch. My sister was having trouble getting her quilts to come out right. I talked her in to buying a foot. Her quilts are so much better now. You do need to still watch that your fabric ride just along your foot, but it is worth every penny you spend on it.
