Please beware of the folding pen! It may work well but it comes with a warning that it can cause irritaion to the skin. The teacher gave it to us in a applique class and I chose not to use it because I have exeama(?) on my hands and did not want to make it worse!

That pen sounds like it might work for holding binding in place before sewing. Might be better than Clover clips.
I have used Elmers glue and glue pens, both of them work but are messy to work with.

I use the liquid silicone (not spray) on my thread. I put a drop on a spool of thread before sewing. It won't hurt the sewing machine. All newer machines have silicon embedded in the internal parts. Also the liquid silicone is great for frizzy hair. LOL. It's the same thing in the non frizz, great shine hair products. Just a drop on your hair brush works great.
