I have that iron as well, and I love it. But be very careful to unplug it after use. Mine remains 'on' even though I turn it off with the lever. I discovered that while in the sewing room, not sewing, when I heard the iron snap a couple of times as they do. I went over and low and behold the iron was warm ( I hadn't used it that day) So I always unplug her to be sure she's off. Other than that, she's a honey! I bought mine at the Vermont Country Store also.

I have 2 of these, bought from VCS. No problems with them. I got so tired of having steam irons always leaking/spitting water and believe me I tried a lot of different brands before I saw the irons in my VCS catalog.

I have 2 of them! They are great for dry ironing. Without the holes my pieces stay flat; no catching on anything. Would highly recommend.

It looks a lot like my Mother's old Sunbeam iron. I still have it and her first steam iron. I haven't used either of them, but have been thinking of getting DH to rewire the old Sunbeam to use for quilting when I don't need steam. It is a heavy iron though.

Thanks for the article. I, too, hate the holes catching on seams, etc.

I've had this a couple of weeks now and really like it. No auto shutoff feature, which I like. I keep it plugged into a surge surge protector along with a lamp to remember to turn them both off when I'm done. It does have an "off" position but I never quite trust those switches.

It's nice and heavy but somewhat smaller than my other iron, which I like. It gets plenty hot at the cotton setting, but I haven't yet used the lower settings. I've already gotten fusible goo on it and it cleaned up nicely.

Unfortunately, it's made in China, but what isn't nowadays? I don't like that aspect but otherwise like the iron.

I got it from Vermont Country Store for $29.99 plus shipping (can't recall how much shipping cost). Here's a link: http://www.vermontcountrystore.com/p...l?evar3=search
Looks like my mom's and grandma's iron when I was a kid. :o)
