Default have you used Grandmothers one patch templates

om Nancy Zeiman? I watched her video on doing the large grandmothers flower garden patch using the templates and got to thinking that tracing all those was a step backwards....

Is it possible to just make a plexiglass template so you can CUT them out instead of tracing?

I don't know how large you are referring to, but I just bought a n EZ Quilting by Darlene Zimmerman template for hexagons from 5 1/2" down to 1 1/2''. It works perfectly for the 2 1/2" ones I was having trouble making a equally sided template for. It was half price at JoAnn's last week.

If you have an Alto's Quilt Cut, there are directions (both printed and video, I think) on how to cut hexagons with a rotary cutter. Sure beats tracing all those hex's.

I bought them because Nancy made the process look so easy! I haven't used them yet. I'm still 80% garment sewer and 20% quilter. (That ratio is changing quickly! )

Well, don't bother to try MillHouseQuilts. I placed an online order and they just called to tell me they do not have it in stock. She did say it was one of their older items, but didn't know if the template company was out of business.
