I searched through old posts and saw the question asked before but I didn't find any replies from people who have actually done it.

So......have you used a microfiber sheet as a quilt back? I'm very interested in your experience.

I wouldn't, but my reason why is very personal and nothing to do with quality, etc. I don't like microfiber because it's too static-y. It drives me crazy. Doesn't matter if I use fabric softener, dryer sheets, etc - there is *always* static.

They also are slippery! My church group uses whatever sheets the leader finds at Goodwill, so I know they are also more difficult to get a needle through when tying the quilt.

I don’t like the feel of it so wouldn’t use it. Perhaps a flannel fabric would work better.

I just put microfiber on the back of my nine-patch and so far, it seems to be holding up okay, but I sort of regretted the decision to do it. There was a lot more lint than I was ready for when I stitched on the binding and quilting cat is right, getting a needle through to tie it was unbelievably difficult and my hands suffered for a couple of days. Add to it that there were a couple of times I broke one thread when I was trying to push the needle through and there are now a couple of runs I'm going to have to watch closely to make sure everything doesn't fall apart.

Microfiber is great for a lot of things, but putting it on the back of a quilt, I would have to say no.

I have not used micro fibre but I have backed a wool wall hanging with thick wool. I have to use big stitches to quilt as it difficult and a thimble with my needle to do the binding. It is not something I would want to do again but I got it done.
If it is a lap quilt I say give it a try. If it is queen size, I probably wouldn’t . You didn’t mention if you are machine quilting it on a sewing machine or longarm. If you have a long arm, I imagine it would quilt similar to milky which some of our long armers like doing.

I have not. I don't like the feel of micro fiber sheets.

I've used one as backing on some wall hangings when I was a bit desperate for fabric this past spring and didn't like the feel of it. Also, on some that I've but on a bed in the past it seemed like they got real rough when they got worn.

Thanks for the replies. Based on what I've read, I'm not going to try this. Why ask for trouble??
