    Default Hawaiian quilting

I hope I am not repeating myself. I tried posting a week or so ago and I never found my post not to mention a reply. Anyway... I live in the Mpls/St Paul area and would love to take a class on Hwaiian quilting. I have read about it but to take on the queen size quilt I want to make i would love to take a class. Is there anyplace in the metro area that has such a class? Thanks

Is there a way you can google and find a class? That's all I can think of. Good luck. I think the Hawaiian quilts are beautiful. (Maybe there is a book that would help?)

I have a set of Hawaiian patterns. I just pulled them out and they are machine or hand applique. The template for cutting out the pieces is included. I don't know if there is a specific technique that you are looking for but for my patterns, it would just be learning to do hand or machine applique. Are you looking for patterns or kits?

Good luck with the Hawaiian quilting. Maybe you just need a trip to Hawaii to take that class.

Pacific Rim has amazing Hawaiian quilts, videos and instructions. The ladies are delightful to deal with and most helpful on any and all questions.

I took a class to applique a pillow, at a quilt shop when I was living in Maui, and bought a Hawaiian Applique book by Vicky Fleming, that I've been using since I've been back in CA. I started a traditional Hawaiian quilt while I was still there, and I'm working on it now. I thought the pattern would be the hardest, but after I got that done, I was hoping the applique wouldn't be too difficult to finish. I struggled, but I finally finished it & now I'm quilting...one hoop at a time. It seems like it will take forever. I hope I can finish it, even though it will definitely look like an amateur quilt.
There's a website with Nancy Chong, think that's right, where you can sign up for lessons. I think it's Pacific Rim Quilt Company, or www.prqc.com. This is the first time I've heard of anybody else making a Hawaiian quilt since I've been back on the Mainland, over a year now. Good luck, and let me know how you're doing.
