There are at least three great shops in Wichita plus one south of Wichita in Derby. There's a huge shop about 75 miles east of Wichita on HWY 400 called Needle in a Haystack. They have a huge selection.

Here's a website from one of the central Kansas shop hops. It has a good list of shops towards the bottom of the page.

There is a great shop in Severy, Kansas called the Needle in the
Haystack on Hwy 54/400. Actually there is a 2nd shop in Severy but
do not know the name. Worth the drive and you probably will be
going near or right by there. Also there is a shop in Humboldt
Kansas named Heavenly Kneads & Threads and Iola Ks. One in Iola has lots of ladies from near Wichita coming over to. Very inexpensive material but only open Wed. thru Sat. named Prices Fabric.

There's a quilt shop here in Collinsville, IL...you'll be going right through (I think)...if you're traveling Rte. 70/55. Also, I drive to NY (10-1/2 hours) frequently, and may I sugges the books on CD? They are just WONDERFUL and make your time go much faster! Keep safe....

I can see why you want to get there- you family is beautiful.

You can make it a shop hop road trip and plan around good QS's. Do a scrapbook along the way with photos and post 'em in a blog...might keep your interest in the drive going!!

Born and raised in CA so I have no idea what's out there.

Have a SAFE and fun trip.
