heat n Bond/quilting question
I use the lightweight Heat n Bond for doing applique. However, it still feels pretty stiff once it's appliqued on. My question - can I quilt over it? If so, do I need to do anything special with the tension/thread/needle?
Which brings up another question. Is there something better to use for applique that won't be as stiff?

I will be bookmarking this one!
I have used Wonder Under which I think is very stiff and leaves a shiny plastic film on the back of the cloth when you peel up the paper.
I used the heatnBond Lite and it is not superlite but I have been able to quilt on it without a problem - on my one 12" raw-edge applique project!

Are you using the brand name HeatnBond® Lite? I know are more than one lightweight stabilizers & I found out the hard way that when I didn't use the brand name, it was stiff. After I washed the quilt when using the brand name, it was even softer. Good luck.

Misty Fuse is very soft and does not make appliques at all stiff. It does not come with paper on one side, but you can iron it between two sheets of parchment paper, then peel off one side while still warm and create your own paper-sided fusible. You can find Misty Fuse on Amazon and eBay.

I made a twin size kids quilt with large applique pieces. In a rush and not thinking, I forgot to use the HeatnBond Lite only around the edges of the applique pieces (windowing). It was very easy to sew over the applique. The quilt was stiff until it was washed, but the appliques did soften up with each washing.

Next time you might want to consider the Heat & Bond Feather Lite. I used it for a quilt that had 12 large appliqués and when it was completed, it didn't even feel like there was any fusible in it at all! Wonderful drape and no stiffness.
