I also have an embroidery collection but a lot of that is on the external hard drive of my computer. I do have over 300 threads with another 45 coming from the States.
I don't feel in the least guilty as I make lots of charity quilts plus this is my reward for quitting smoking 18 months ago.
Maybe if I stopped buying fabric and thread as well as designs I could build an extra room and get my bedroom back. In the meantime I'll just enjoy. As DH says "if it makes you happy, just do it"

Well some of us may have bigger stashes, but for someone who has only been quilting a year that is an impressive stash. You do need intervention. LOL

I had the same thing happen to me. I have since started shopping my 'hoard' and am sticking to my 'promise' to not buy any more fabric till I had used some I already have. OMG it is killing me!!!!!!!!

    Happy stitchin..

So what is the problem? You are a quilter aren't you? hehe
Just use that fact as justification. Most of us do. But if you don't mind, I would suggest you have a moratorium on buying new for a while.

Michael, How about a TV mystery where our stash gets stolen and we have to give a description of everything. LOL

Actually I would be thrilled if most of what I found in my closet were kits instead of pieces of unrelated fabric. At least you could pull one out and get started right away on it. Not so for me! Good luck with not buying on your trip. Yeah, right. By the way, is your full name Mike Holmes because there is a guy on TV who does remodeling in Canada whose first name is Mike and the show is called "Holmes on Homes". He is an interesting guy and he fixes people's houses that have sustained bad remodeling jobs from incompetent contractors. What a coincidence if so! Do you suppose he hoards wood?

LOL I was just thinking that I really have soooo much fabric, will I ever use it in my lifetime? Will I make something with it before the popular NOW colors become the popular THEN colors? (in 20 years they will be popular again. right?) So after thinking all of this, I got my fabric from online, it will take a whole day to wash, iron, and fold it. My reasoning? the price of cotton is going up, stock your stash while you can get a decent price. Now I will just have to make even MORE quilts :) I dont buy kits, I buy fabric to make quilts, plus a little/lot extra for errors. then forget what pattern I was thinking when I purchased THAT fabric. I know I'm no help in your situation, just wanted you to know that you are not alone. There is a whole boat load of us out there, I envy the quilter(s) who buys just what they need.
