I am making a lap quilt that I envision will likely be used as a stadium blanket. Obviously I can't choose how it will be used, as it is a fundraiser item, but I plan to label it as a stadium blanket, having the UW logo. I want to know what would be best, seeing as it may get rained or snowed on, that would dry quicker or hold up to washings. I am thinking poly or 50/50, but need advice cuz I'm just guessing. I just remember they told us not to wear cotton when rafting cuz it stays wetter and clingier... thanks in advance for the suggestions!

Hmm...well I would imagine something warm, so either a polyester or maybe a wool batting?

I think wool would weigh a ton if it gets wet. But, I could be wrong.

If this is going to be a quilt to sit under while watching football games, I would suggest Quilter's Dream Wool batting. It is great to work with, light weight, but oh so warm.

I would use a wool batting -- stays warm even when wet. My first choice would be Hobbs wool (I think it's Heirloom wool); Quilter's Dream wool is great also. These are the only two brands of wool batting I would trust. Offbrands can present problems with odor and shrinkage/distortion.

I use the cheap bed blankets like the five dollor ones that you get at Wal-Mart are many Thrift Stores. Don't know if that well help you , but they work fine for me. :D

I'd use polar fleece as a backing and then you wouldn't need batting. The fleece doesn't feel cold even when it is pretty damp. It wears well and can be washed in the washer and machine dried.

wool is a wonderful choice---but quite expensive---
a good quality poly batting is what i use for all of our beach/picnic quilts- they hold up for years- take frequent washing/drying and tons of abuse!
    dream poly is my favorite.

I would use Dream Green made out of recyclec pop bottles. I have had great success with it. Feels most like Warm and Natural.

    http://www.quiltersdreambatting.com/dream-green.htm

Since it is not an organic product, it should hold up well to the abuse.
