help! -which batting for a quilt used outside
#1
I am making a lap quilt that I envision will likely be used as a stadium blanket. Obviously I can't choose how it will be used, as it is a fundraiser item, but I plan to label it as a stadium blanket, having the UW logo. I want to know what would be best, seeing as it may get rained or snowed on, that would dry quicker or hold up to washings. I am thinking poly or 50/50, but need advice cuz I'm just guessing. I just remember they told us not to wear cotton when rafting cuz it stays wetter and clingier... thanks in advance for the suggestions!

I would use a wool batting -- stays warm even when wet. My first choice would be Hobbs wool (I think it's Heirloom wool); Quilter's Dream wool is great also. These are the only two brands of wool batting I would trust. Offbrands can present problems with odor and shrinkage/distortion.

wool is a wonderful choice---but quite expensive---
a good quality poly batting is what i use for all of our beach/picnic quilts- they hold up for years- take frequent washing/drying and tons of abuse!
dream poly is my favorite.

I would use Dream Green made out of recyclec pop bottles. I have had great success with it. Feels most like Warm and Natural.

Since it is not an organic product, it should hold up well to the abuse.
