Missed the fact that this top is already small and my suggestion would reduce it even further...my bad! Maybe cutting the blocks apart and adding windowpane strips between the blocks in a festive color and repeating the same color in the border along with a coordinating print...then binding.

I could make an entirely new quilt faster than trying to "fix" this one

It is rather a boring quilt right now, isn't it? I had to look at it for a while before I could even think of anything. Here goes.....
A small white, stopper border...think finishing at 1". Then a border of something that includes all three colors that are in the quilt. It could be flowers, baby dolls, owls, but just make sure the background is the same white as the stopper border. Then I would fussy cut some of the items from the final border and applique them to the center of each of the crosses or in the pink boxes.

I do hope you post your finished project.

That has a modern feel to it! You got some great modern border ideas. If it were mine, I'd do 2 white and 2 gray borders, using wide gray on 2 sides, and narrower white on 2 sides.

I was thinking a crisp white border that would bring out the white in the gingham. Then attach yo yos or hexies in the middle of the xxxs. You could use a nursery rhyme print for the backing with a white background. Their are also appliques that could be done in animal shapes.

A plain piece of fabric, quilted beautifully makes a stunning quilt. I don't think it is all that boring. It isn't quilted yet. Do dramatic quilting and it will be stunning.

I have been thinking about this since yesterday, as I really don't think this is that boring....just sort of delicate. But I just though of rick rack....the wide rick rack, if they still make it. I can a crisp white border, as others have suggested....or maybe even a border with a white, pink, and blue pattern, but with rick rack on the inner and outer edges of it. I "think" that might look good. The rick rack would need to be pink or blue or maybe both....

Well, just a thought, in case it works for you. The quilt has no WOW factor, but not all quilts need that.
