    Default Help cleaning my iron

I accidently put some of my homemade Best Press in my small travel iron, thinking it was my distilled water. While pressing my fabric I noticed a pleasant smell, not realizing what I had done til is was way too late. A month later I took my favorite little iron out and noticeds 2 of the holes are plugged. Any suggestion on how I can clean the inside of this little gem? Thanks!

It depends on what make of iron and what the iron is made out of. I would use vinegar/water and set it in the sink on a wire cookie rack and let it steam thru, then rinse it the same way. I used Q-tips and even toothpicks to clean out the holes but the steam might clean them out. Then clean the sole of the iron to remove all residue. Good luck.

Vinegar and water is great to clean out the inside of an iron. I had a huge amounts of ants that ended up in my iron. Got all those tiny bodies finally cleaned out. So glad that Rowenta had made a lid finally for where you pour in the water.

This happened to me one time many years ago. My mother couldn't believe it until it happened to her also. SHe did the same thing and kept doing it till the no more ants. Turns out my sister had sticky fingers when she ironed some of her clothes She was always eating a candy bar or something sweet. She was about 14-15.
