Thanks for all the help. I got my machine fixed. It was the foot pedal and the repair person said Singer was no longer making them so I hope this one will last. It is a used one and got it for $30. Now I want to shop this weekend so am following your directions to some of the great shops you have suggested. Thanks for your help.
