Thank you to all for your advice and suggestions. I have found a shop in Stroudsburg, Pa. Hopefully he will be able to fix the machine and reasonably. His email said he would do the evaluation free of charge. That alone is worth the trip.....Again Thank you

Just a shame that you'll not be near Lancaster for that trip!

I had this happen recently to a 7550 and it was the board which is in the bottom part of the machine. These parts are no longer made, they have to ship them and have them repaired (normally - your guy may be able to do that himself). I just wanted you to be prepared - the estimate for repairing the board was $450. I have 2 other Pfaffs (7550 and 7570) so I decided not to have that one fixed and kept it for parts.

I had a feeling that the cost is up there. We will see. Maybe the shop or someone would like it for parts. It is in like new shape. I will up date what happens after I get up there, which may be in the next month or so..
    Many thanks
