Jelly rolls are the size that the braid pieces need to be, which is why I am surprised that the pattern book never mentions them.

I am also going to look for jelly rolls in graduated colors, it doesn't have to be fusions and it might even be a bit better with a small scale floral because the floral fabric is a vintage look.

I've seen the Kona jelly rolls by Kaufman in graduated colors. http://webstore.quiltropolis.net/sto...3&Item_ID=1650

You can always check ebay too. But watch out for quantity as they do vary a bit out there.

Webfabrics.com has Fusions jelly rolls. They have all of the blues in one jelly, all the pinks, purples, yellows, etc. for $23.50 each. That would cost $94 to get 4 sets.

They also have two jelly rolls of ALL 139 fabrics, one set of lights and one set of darks, for $27.95 each. That would cost $55.90 to get both of them. That may be the better option. I only need four 2 1/2" x 8 1/2" pieces of each color so out of one strip (40") I could get 4.7 pieces.

    139 strips x 4 pieces each = 556 pieces.
    Each color needs 48 pieces x 4 colors = 192 pieces.

I could get well over 2 quilts out of the two jelly rolls.

Oh, that's even better! Can't wait to see your quilt. French Braids are so nice, and so easy!

    I got everything ordered.

Am I done yet? My plan is that if I do them fast enough, someday the fabric is just going to give up and arrive in my mailbox already put together into a completed top.
