Default Help finding a perfect memorial block/quilt

We have just lost a young man in our family. He was 29 and died a tragic death. He was my great nephew and I am looking for a block/quilt for photos and prayers to make for his mother, my sweet dear niece. Please help. Thank you.

A photo quilt or was there something else about him that was special that you would like to incorporate. Example, was he in the military, or did he love hockey?

I am so very sorry for your familie's loss. Sending you all gentle hugs and prayers. No idea of what to make except if you can get pictures of him throughout his life. Print those onto fabric and use in a quilt.

Maybe find out if there are some special pieces of clothing that you could incorporate some of the fabric into the quilt. Did he have any favorite quotes, sayings, songs that you could use? Anything that was special to him, pictures of any of his pets through the years? Special places he visited that meant a lot to him?

I am so sorry for your loss, and your gift will bring comfort in a special and unique way. The idea of using some of his clothing to sash the photo blocks and/or to make simple 4 or 9patch blocks to scatter among the photo blocks will add to that comfort. If I were making it I would back it in a really good, soft flannel that represents something about him water, outdoor scenes, sports, his favorite color etc. something about flannel always feels like a hug to me. Prayers and comfort for you and your family.

We lost my mother in law to colon cancer just over a year ago, and I have a stack of her old clothes that I am turning into a crazy quilt, mixed with pictures of this dear woman. You might mix it with fabrics that show the things he loved.
