I swear by Goo-Gone. I've been using it for about 40 years, and am only on my third bottle. I use it several times a week, it seems, but a few drops go a long way. All my jars are label-free. The local hardware store carries it.

As SunQuilts mentioned...Goo-Gone is my go-to in these situations. It worked to remove gum on sweaters that had melted and stuck on after going through the dryer......You'll just have to wash afterwords as it has a citrus smell. This happened numerous times when the kids were home. it is readily available at grocery stores where household cleaning supplies are or in most hardware stores....let us know how you make out.....good luck Bea

Spray it with Goo-Gone. Its purpose is to remove sticky residue. I've not used it on fabric that I recall but on many other things, including black glue used to stick down linoleum tiles. If the drapes are washable, I'd try it.

I've used the put something else (another piece of fabric) on top of it and iron, move the fabric, re-iron and repeat until all of the sticky is gone. Just make sure that you don't re-iron the sticky from the fabric that you're using for the removal process! Good luck!
