I agree with Jan, if you want the pattern to really pop, then either lighter or darker setting triangles would do the trick. Otherwise, I'd go with the fabric on the left as the pattern blocks separate from it better than they do from the fabric on the right.
Either way, it's a lovely quilt.

Another pattern to add to the "to do list". It is dangerous coming on here and seeing all these gorgeous creations everyday.
If it was mine I would be going with darker "side bits" in a plain or tone on tone fabric to really make those pretty blocks a feature.

I'm in the left camp. They sort of "disappear" and let the design of the middle shine. However, you could make the design stand out more with a higher contrasting purple (lighter or darker). Not necessary, but you might discover you like it better.
