Help! How do you get the skunk smell out of the cutting mats??
#51
I washed my mat with dish soap and water, then let it dry outside (out of the sun) for about a week. There is something about the Olfa mats that they have that smell, but I really like them.
Some are worse than others. I think the degree of smell may also be from how long the shops have had them. The longer maybe lessens the smell, since they are in the open air rather than boxed???

Well I know for sure tomato juice works for getting the skunk off a dog, my Boxer got skunked a couple weeks ago, whewwwww! She went directly to the tub, climbed in and 'got the works'... The juice worked immediately, then shampooed her... When I got my mats, they did smell, I let them air a few days with fabric sheets, then laid newspaper over that. The paper absorbed the smell. It worked for me, anything is worth a try..

I understand about odors - I have the same problem.
Good luck!

Put vinegar on it, and leave it sit outside in the sun for a couple of days. Vinegar is drying so don't leave it on there too long.
You could sprinkle baking soda on it when you bring it back in, and let that sit.
If you can find a bag big enough to seal you can put it in there with deactivated carbon. (found at drug store)
