WD40 is a grease! so don't use that! i have been successful with Dawn dish soap. pour directly on spot, work in and rinse out with hot water. Dawn works to take the oil off the pelicans in the gulf...

Dawn is the only thing I have found to get spagetti sauce/tomato based stains out. Pour a little on stain and wash as usual. Check stain to make sure its out before placing in dryer. If not sure stain is out let item air dry and repeat. Black grease can be a different story depending of fabric

Well, the Goof Off didn't work. I just put some Greased Lightening on it before I went to the store. It sat for about 2 hours. It's in the washer now so I hope this works. Thanks for all you help so far. Dawn is next to try.

My brother would always forget to change when working under his truck and would get grease stains all over his clothes. My mom used De-Solve-it plus Spray-n-Wash with great success. Spray both, allow a little "soak" time and wash...hopefully some combination of these tricks will work!!

This is kind of on topic. Don't laugh, I learned this from a wardrobe person when I was working at CBS many years ago.
If you drop greasy food (buttered bread, a piece of salad with dressing etc.) on yourself try this. Take a piece of bread -- unbuttered and the "crustier" the better -- and rub the stain like you're using an eraser, brushing off the crumbs. Do it a few times. The bread picks up the oil and the stain doesn't get a chance to set. Especially helpful in restaurants were you usually won't have anything else handy.
