I would take them if you do throw them out!

if is dry and brittle, you can place it in the freezer for a few days or mist with water and put in the fridge for a few days, the cotton threads will rehydrate!

DO NOT tear the top paper part off of the bobbins if you do not have a drop in bobbin. if you have a side or front load bobbin case, you need to leave the top paper on!

I read somewhere that you put old thread in the freezer for some period of time to renew it. Not sure the process, but maybe someone will remember where I read this?

The paper spools/pre wound were also
used in sewing rooms in factories.

OMG!! What an incredible collection! Love the wooden spools! I wish they still used those. Use that beautiful thread for quilting ... any of it will be gorgeous! If those little bobbins don't fit your machine, just rewind them onto yours. USE IT! Don't save it! Heheheheh!

Another possible use for the old thread would be to use it for quilt basting.
A quilting group in a neighboring town uses old threads for basting quilts.

There's a thrifty idea- uses the thread, but no worry for the future ;)
