Help! I cut my backing fabric length same size as the top!

That's what I usually do, and I also a make it purposely off center so I don't have to worry about it being centered correctly. After I did this the first time to correct just the mistake you're talking about, I liked it so much, I do it now in purpose on all my quilted projects!

I have been piecing all of my backs. My stash is out of control and I am trying to tame it some this year. The quit back I finished last night is made up of a bunch of 12 inch squares. It has a couple of borders on it. I made a back for a baby quilt and got a little bit carried away cutting things while making it. It cam out so pretty I added a couple of borders and it became the front for my SIL for her birthday.

One lady I work with did the same thing, what she did was really cute. She had made the top for her husbands 65th. birthday(she missed that date) so she emb. on a strip "To Big "D'' for his 65th birthday which he didn't receive till his 72th birthday'' I thought was great so maybe as you said a rose on a strip or something like that would be good, maybe even in the middle.BTW very pretty.

Some of my best backs were because of either not enough fabric or cutting errors. While I love a back that is all one fabric, I also love the creative backs. Good luck with your project. By the way, even if you carefully quilt it with the back being the same length, it will probably still shift.
