    in a dire pinch i've used (don't gasp) 409.

but only after everything else fails. it depends on how long the stain has been there.

I use something called quick and brite, works great too, it is organic and doesn't take out the color. Since it is a wall hanging I would try hand washing.

Clotilde.com has something called Grandma's Secret Spot Remover that is supposed to take out all kinds of stains including ink. Haven't tried it but thought it might help you.

Doesnt work, tryed it on a quilt with a small rust stain and it did nothing, also tried it on my shirts where i have gotten gravy etc on the front, didnt work either. It was a waste of 3.00. I go back to using my grandmothers old favorite felsnaptha soap.

Story - we had moved into an apartment above our music store for security reasons, and left our house "empty" for about a year, but with some things still stored there. Short version, there was a water leak and my wedding dress from 1976 mildewed terribly before I found it. I was heartbroken.

I read online that Oxi-Clean would take it out, with Clorox 2 as a booster. I let it soak overnight along with some special embroidered, appliqued and quilted table linens that my mother had made, and hoped for the best.

Every stain came out. You cannot even tell that it was ever stained. The treatment did not harm any of the old colored fabrics. Even the wine stain from my wedding day came out!

    I was happy!!!

I don't have any cleaners to recommend that have not already been mentioned. However, I would caution about washing the entire top. Even new fabric can be very stressed in the process. If spot cleaning does not work, I would wait to wash the entire thing after it was quilted unless it is so bad that you would not make it into a quilt due to the spot.

    Good luck,
