I want to make DD #2 a modern looking quilt. Probably throw size. She loves green. Any ideas on sites for patterns ? I don't have any 'feel' for modern...really need inspiration.

Try some of Carol Doak's Paper Piecing books. Some of her stars really give a modern look when put together.

Shadowbox. Put it in the search box. There have been some cool ones pictured, especially with batiks. I'm planning one for my daughter with similar tastes for her August birthday.

Carnival is my next project. Maple Island quilts has some also. Love the ones called Eureka and Hotshot. Not too difficult. Fun to do.
    Good Luck!

When I think modern, I think squares and rectangles (versus triangles), I think patterns like D9P, Bento Box and Thinking Outside The Block look modern. I also think Batiks give a pretty modern look.

Don't forget to sow us what you make :-P

Bento box is a nice one

    or a bargello

    or a OBW

You could also make a traditional quilt pattern look more modern with more contemporary fabrics (moda or batiks come to mind)
