Cool Help, I need to know what size blocks to make for this panel.

Hi, my friend asked me to make a quilt for her daughter, for her wedding gift. My brain is just not thinking clearly, so I need your help. I want to make a Churn Dash block, the panel size is 43 " wide by 34" high, that is the OD, (Outer Diameter) where there is a lot of blue, and I could cut it to make it fit nay size, the ID (inner diameter) Cannot cut any of this off, of the panel is 34" wide by 27" high. Please help math is not my strong suit. Thank you all so much, Lori

I would cut the panel to 30.5x40.5, then make the blocks 10.5. This gives you a finished 30x40 in the middle and 10 in blocks. Makes it simple to make the final quilt size whatever you want.

Wow, you are great to come up with the size so quickly. I am too horrible in math. Next time I need help in determining the size of a block, I'll come here first.

You just created another problem though. Churn dash blocks are a 9 patch block and 10.5 does not divide evenly by 3. I would make the blocks either 6 or 9 inches and then use sashing strips to make the blocks work with the panel.
