There are some nice Christmas fabrics out there right now. I'd look for something in greens and/or red to make it closr to lap quilt size and bind it in black. It is very pretty.
What about some red and green 4 patch squares (2-1/2 x 2-1/2 squares for the 4-patch) all around it with a couple of borders? That would make it larger.
