Thank you everyone for looking at this block! I appreciate the extra analysis by Krisb and BarbinLA. I've studied this block, but haven't had the nerve to try I until now that you've shown me some easy instructions. I originally saw this block on Ebony Love's website in the background. I wrote her to ask if she had a pattern. She did not. Ebony was doing demoes of Accuquilt dies at that time, so I'm guessing it was originally done with the Accuquilt parallelogram die for the white pieces.
    Thanks all!

I would make this with half square triangles as well.

Edited to Add: No Y seams in the final draw. All pieces added to the first square are QST's. It would be a much easier pattern to sew. The problem will be keeping the 3D aspect that the solid pieces give. I would try this on a test block to see if you like the variation.
Excellent explanation of this block. KUDOS to you.

Yes so do I. Sometimes it's hard to spot the seams in a photo with HSTs. This block can definitely be done that way.
