Help - Invisible thread for bobbin
Help - I am looking to find out if it is possible to successfully wind a bobbin with invisible thread. I prefer to machine bind my bindings on my little quilts for charity But the bobbin thread generally is visible and I would prefer it not to be therefore want to use invisible thread in the bobbin. Is that possible or can it be done with success?

I do most of my sewing on a vintage Singer 301 and I have used invisible thread in the bobbin for FMG lots of times with no trouble at all. All you can do is try it and see if your machine likes it or not.

It depends somewhat on brand. I have used YLI nylon monofilament in the bobbin with no problems. There are some things you need to know. This type of thread stretches, so you need to wind the bobbin slowly. If you use plastic bobbins, fill only a little more than half full; if filled full, it likely will distort the bobbin. If you use metal bobbins, you can fill up to 3/4s full. Reduce upper tension in your machine.
