If you don't want the contrast between the dark and light halves to be too stark and want it to be a softer contrast your fabrics work nicely together. If you want a subtle background for applique these fabrics should work beautifully.

I think I will try a few blocks with what I have. I want to be able to make the applique pop.

Love the Log Cabin blocks. I have this on my list of projects and I can never decide on the fabrics. You are using my favorite colors too. I look forward to seeing how it comes out!
