that will work with alternating embroidery blocks, with the jacobean florals on them. I am using kona cottons, bone colored background, for the emb designs, and I want to use the light peach, seafoam green and some of the lagoon blue. Any ideas that might work for these?
    thanks alot for any help.

the emb florals are medium size, all right at 6 inches. Not sure about the size block I will use yet...not much over the 6 inches I guess.
    these, Jubilant Jacobean Bloom 1 / E3659
    4.88"(w) x 6.89"(h)http://www.emblibrary.com/EL/new.asp...070710#classic
    or these
    Classic Suzani Medallion 6, 5.86"X5.85"

I can't make up my mind yet which one, but am leaning towards the classic Suzani.

I would not make the alternating blocks too busy due to the amount of embroidery in the Jacobean blocks. Have you considered just stitching a quilting design in the alternating blocks - using your coordinating fabrics?

yes I have thought that would be good...having a design in those with the emb designs on the others. But was looking for ideas too, and maybe a trim around the blocks? or a border of the colored fabric?..

How about using the embroidered squares as the center part in an Irish Chain pattern. Double or triple might work best. http://www.quilt.com/Blocks/IrishChain/IrishChain.html

I'm a floral person & really like these patterns. I think you could even trace the outline of some of these blocks to use as patterns for just stitching the outline of the flowers in your alternating blocks. Yes, sashing & borders are needed to pull everything together.

If I looked in the right spot those are going to be Great !! Alternating Irish chain or shadow frame the block with emblem, w/solid alternating blocks nothing busy. Hope that made sense?? Good Luck !!
