I am a little worried now - I marked the quilt that I am starting to quilt on with a Blue Washout Cloth Marker (thick pencil kind), but.... couldn't really see the markings so I did it again pressing down harder - well, now didn't like the marking so I took a wet washcloth and tried to erase the markings, did not come all the way out - I can not wash it yet as it is just basted and I want to remark it... Any suggestions???? I mark as I go (I hand quilt using a portable lap hoop). I need to buy some more of that Water Earsable Marker, but just have not had the time to go to LQS, guess I will during lunch hour.

I have not used this product myself but I have seen video of its use and they used a spray bottle and totally saturated the area. Give that a try. Also from books I have read using this tool you don't want to press too hard. I know that is not what you want to hear now. Good luck and let us know how you make out.

This is the blue marking pencil for quilting that is supposed to be removeable with water? Vinegar is supposed to take out that marking if water does not.

I recommend testing the vinegar on a marking made on a scrap piece of fabric first, just to make sure it is going to do what it is supposed to do.

I am also a hand quilter using a portable lap hoop. Right now I am working on a quilt that I am marking as I go. I have been using a marking pencil made by Sewline that uses ceramic lead. (I think that Fons and Porter has a similar one too.) It is a mechanical pencil with lead that comes in several colors. I really like it because the lines brush off like chalk but stays on a bit better than plain chalk. I also like it because I don't have to constantly sharpen it like I was when I used a marking pencil.

kayquilt - Does that marker come in blue - it seems blue shows up on all color fabric and I can see it better (besides the white of course on dark colors). I went during lunch to LQS and they had the blue water erasable marker and I used that and I can see on all colors - just hope this washes out as I go - unlike that stupid blue pencil I used earlier. The vinegar worked a little, but I hope it all washes out when I wash it - it is going to be awhile since I just started doing the quilting on this one. Thanks for the recommendation - I can use all the help I can get... :)

The lead comes in quite a few colors. I don't remember if it comes in blue or not. I know that it comes in white, yellow and green, because that is what I have. I think there were several other colors. :-D :-D :-D :-D

I have the pencil, and the green works real well. I just used it on a black and white quilt, and could see it on both colors.

thanks guys, guess I will invest in a couple of those when I run out of what I just bought. I have it written down and put in my wallet so I won't forget it. :)

I have that pencil too. I love the green! It's made by Sewline.
