    With the solid. It breaks up the pattern, gives your eyes a place to stop and rest to take it all in, and adds variety. I think it makes teh pattern a little more soft.

    #2 - The solids in #1 draw the eye too much IMHO but I like the colors in both.

    I like the second, I have some of that same fabric and I am working on it for a quilt for AL, tornado victims.
