    for a beginner , I love my "Idiots Guide to Quilting"

    But dont forget... Amazon has lots of other things besides just books..... Look around.....

    Thanks for the suggestion! I actually already have a Kindle and I love mine, too. I don't really know where to get free books though ... I know they have classics on Amazon for free or for just a dollar or two and have downloaded a few of them. I read a lot of the urban fantasy type stuff too (love the Mercy Thompson series!)

    I wholeheartedly agree - if you were stranded on an island with some thread, fabric and a handcrank machine AND this book you could teach yourself to do anything. I gave my fabric friend one last christmas and she agrees it is the best go to book on the market!

    I would suggest getting "A Quilter's Diary" I am going to make a Diary quilt from it. It has really cute patterns.

    I have downloaded tons of free ebooks.... just google free ebook.... all the classics are free... and many others..

    Thanks everyone for the suggestions! I am looking for a book this time ... I tend to prefer to buy fabric from the big fabric stores or in person, unless I'm looking for something really specific. I think I will take a look at the BH&G book for a start. Thanks again!
