Help needed by embroidery experts!

Thank you all for the information. Think I am going to purchase an external floppy drive, go with embrid and go from there. If I run into other problems down the way I will yell for help again.

You might want to check with Janome, I thought that Janome would look at SEW files as well as JEF, maybe it's machine specific, but I'd research that too.
I had to get an external floppy drive for work, one of our contracts needs an Excel spreadsheet put on a floppy every week. How stupid when we can just email it. I'm amazed they still sell floppies.

There is also a terrific board that has an superb embroidery and digitizing section http://www.sewforum.com/index.php. Lots of free designs there, too. I just downloaded a cute Roadkill Grill design for a Father's Day apron for my husband.
