    Default Help with paper piecing

    Hello!

I have the EQ7 and I used it to do the hunter's star - paper piecing. I grouped it myself, and EQ numbered it, however, when I try to sew it together in that order, I'm having a hard time.

    Here's what I have:

For the PP experts ... is there a different order that you can think of that would work? I've tried this way (with the more "white" than "dark" fabrics) and it's simply not working out.

    Thanks very much

I would make your #2 & #4 as one big triangle & label it as #4. I would make your #3 into #1, your #1 into #2 & your #5 into #3. See if that works for ya.

I would try #3 first, #1 second, #5 third, combine 4&2 into one large triangle without the seam and add it last. That’s the way my eyes see it going together, anyway.

If it were me I would pre piece 2 and 4 and make the combined piece 4. Then make the middle (3) my first 1 and 5 would become 2/3, then the new combined 4 as the final piece.

Looks like we were all typing the same thing at the same time.

Are you using a design from the EQ library, or did you work up the design on your own? Your section #2 is not necessary, just makes more work.

This was the block I used in both my Hunter Star quilts.

And here is how it's numbered.

    Hope this helps!

Thank you all ... Peckish - yes! I just realized when you showed your outline, how I did it wrong LOL

At least now, I don't have to reprint it all!

Thanks very much, I can now proceed LOL

Thanks, ladies, for this thread! Getting ready to embark on this quilt myself. I was going to use the pp'd blocks from quilterscache but will now have to check my EQ5! And when - not if I'm sure - I have problems I'll be back here!

Marion..you're making great progress on your quilt (from the other thread). Reason I came back to this thread - I looked in my EQ5 yesterday and see nothing in the library for this block. I can see the correct way to draw it from Peckish's diagram but I'm clueless as to sizes/dimensions. I was planning to use a total 12" block. Hmmm. Maybe I can figure it out from what I drew incorrectly yesterday.
