Default Help with piecing quilt backing

The quilt that I am making will require a pieced back. I have purchased 3-1/2 yds of fabric and I need to cut it in half and seam it. Here is where I need the help. About a year ago I was at a shop and someone was showing how you could fold the fabric straight as it was cut from the bolt in half and then I think you seamed down the middle of the two inside sections almost to the end and then you cut it straight across and when you open it up it is perfectly seamed in half. I have tried to look for a You Tube video about this and have had no luck. I hope that I have explained things clearly. If anyone has done is before and confirm if I have the right idea I would appreciate it. Also if there are any sites out there that explain this I would be interested in them as well.

    Thanks!!

    Mindy

Ive also used the method where you do right sides together sew both sides, now match sewed seams together iron ends, cut along one crease. is that the same as the video? I read it 3 times and was confused! Must be tired!! Lol
