Default Help Please! With Vertical Striped Fabric

How do I cut vertical striped fabric so that when it is placed on an angle the lines stay straight?

I would cut at the same angle that it will be in the quilt, if it will be on point, cut on 45 degree angle.

Yes, you have to cut the fabric on the same angle as the piece in the block. Keep in mind that this will result in bias edges, so I would starch heavily and handle the piece gently. To determine the correct angle, I would cut a piece of clear template material the shape of the patch and move it on the fabric until the orientation is correct.

PaperPrincess is correct, making yourself a see through template is the easiest way to keep your stripes correct. You might want to mark the stripe orientation on the template with a sharpie if you have more than one to cut. Stripes can make wonderful, complex designs if handled with care.

Thanks girls for the help. I did just as you said and got the lines going up and down.
