I just can't seem to get it right. I made this yesterday but it looks like icky. I just don't get the concept of 3 dimensional. I can do almost anything with a quilt/quilt top but can't seem to get the 3D stuff. What am I doing wrong? Or does someone know of a good pattern to follow for the beginner pot holder maker???

Here's a site with some really cute mitts.

Or, you could try what my mother did. She simply made covers for a pair of old store-bought mitts, tracing around them for a pattern. She used a single layer of a cute cotton print. When the covers get dirty, they can be thrown in the wash or easily replaced.
