Help with quilting
I am machine stitching in the ditch on a pinwheel quilt, with black on top and orange on back.
I now want to do some handquilting but with black thread, which of course will show thru to the back.
Is this permitted?
This is a multicoloured pinwheel on black.

Of course you can do whatever you want. Black handquilting showing through on the back?? Sure, why not. It's your quilt. Do whatever pleases you. Life is too short to not do what pleases you.... you're not hurting someone or something....

Any time you have multi colors in a quilt the thread stitching shows and is part of the beauty of the quilt. Many quilters select non-matching thread colors to emphasize the quilting stitches. Do whatever you want and makes you happy with your quilt!!

I understand the situation you find yourself in. You are more concerned about what it will look like finished. Orange and black are certainly opposite colors. I think it will look beautiful either way but if you are really concerned about it you can use the clear thread that looks more like fishing line. I have found that it is difficult to work with however. Follow your quilting heart and use the thread that feels good to you. I hope you will post a pic when you are done. Happy Quiilting

I think it would depend on the color of your back. Personally I wouldn't want black showing on the back if the backing is a light color. You may not mind it. Orange backing with black stitches may look more like halloween than you'd like. Maybe do a few stitches as a test and then stand back and see how you feel about it. If the black is too stark maybe a dark gray would be better.
It's true that it's yours and you can do with it what you like but it's okay to ask for other people's opinions too.
