thank you so much for your ideas, sugestions and also for your concerns. I just finished the SID and will now practice for the FMQ.
Watch out for guardian angels/pinwheel quilt in the picture sections in about two or three weeks.....hopefully

If you have never attempted FMQ'ing before but still want to try it I would first suggest that you take any kind of scrap fabric and make a few sandwiched squares and practice on those until you get to where you are happy with the results. Then you can switch over to the quilt and go at it.
I would do in the ditch on the large center with the pin wheels and for first timer FMQ'er I would use a merandering stitch. The best way to describe it is it kind of looks like brain coral, curving lines that run back and forth.

I made a mistake with the HST including that particular fabric and ended up having the background of the 3D pinwheel on the bias so I had to somehow quilt it down.
Other than that ever single ditch is quilted.
I am a bit disappointed any how. I think the quilting brings a quilt to live and it was hard to go for a very simple live. But still better than a misrable one.

granny_59 My grandmother whom made alot of quilts used to say a quilt isn't a quilt unless there is at least one mistake. The ladies she quilted with always turned something around or made a mistake in the quilting.
