Although I can't see any dark lines in your picture, I'll tell you what I do.
I prefer to press all my seams open. This would solve that problem.

I would make sure the white is a tad longer than the color. The color shows when it is wider that the white. I think the quilt will be lovely when it is done. The different blues are very pretty. I think you should just get it done even if you don't like it. Your friend likes it, and that is what is important.

I don't worry too much about seams showing. I think it'll show a lot less when you have batting behind it (as many have said) but I also figure...quilts have seams, we all know that. No mystery there, so I don't worry if they show a bit. It's just part of the charm!

You can grade the seams like we were taught in sewing garments. It would be a lot of work, but just trim down the dark seam allowances slightly so they don't extend past the white ones.

Oh my goodness why didn't I think of pressing the seams open... yes that would solve the problem...Thank you so much easypeezy..I will try that, thank you so much....no more tiny black line and I can stop trying to trim my seams after I have them sewed

yes as I sew more strips of block together I see that there is way to much white for my taste...Seeing it isn't for me I will just keep going...now I can't wait to get it done..

Thanks everyone for your help ...hope this helps someone else that may have the same problem too

It might help if you pressed the seams open. I really like the colors in the quilt. Don't think it's too much white. I like white background quilts but that's just me.

I really like your quilt too. I love the blue and I don't think it is too much white. I have been thinking about making an Irish Chain, but there is a lot of space that just calls for fancier quilting than I can do. I can SID and do a crisscross thing, that is about all.

But yours is beautiful and the person you are making it for will really like it. If not, send it my way!

This is what I do as well. Very rare that I don't press seams open. PP'ing is the only time that comes to mind. And I do agree with the others, once you get your batting behind your top I doubt if you'll see the seams to which you are referring.
