I've been using my Mom's sewing machine while babysitting my furry brother and sister while my parents are on vacation.

Just now I realized that there was no sewing actually happening; I managed to trace it down. It is stuck somehow in the machine where that silver thing bobs up and down. I don't want to to just yank it out. That does not sound like a good idea.

She'll be back later today, dang it. I wish I could fix it before. . .

Do you mean the lever that moves the thread up and down? It is up when the needle is up and down when the needle is down. I don't have any idea of the correct name for it.

I have had that happen. I just slowly moved the wheel back and forth while gently tugging on the thread til it came loose.

if it's a real tangled mess, you could start cutting a few treads and pulling with some tweezers to release all the treads slowly but surely. then make sure the machine is treaded correctly when you start again.

Yes! I do not know what it's called either.

I cannot see any tangles -- I cannot see exactly WHERE it is. :(

Is the needle up or down into the fabric? If down then gently try to move it up, and put on lightly on fabric. I have open the bobbin case and cut the threads from the insides. But it sounds like you do not know that much about this sewing machine you better not do that unless you unplug it.
