I do like your quilt but I think there is to much white. I would use either a blue, or red or a multi colored thread and and make some swirly stars down each section of white. Or I would applique some stars. Also I would frame this quilt with a dark border and perhaps a mini inner border. I like your scrappy colours!

Agree with everyone else about the contrasting thread. I'm thinking classic gingerbread type swirls so it feels like a dressed up version of plaid shirts and high end woodworking.

I looks like a RED, WHITE and BLUE quilt top. I would Put Blue Stars scattered along the White and some Half in the White and Red

I think I would add a border in a red and blue fabric. Then bind in navy and MAYBE add a thin, red flange (or vice versa) Then I would quilt stars over the entire center but quilt something different on the border fabric.

I totally agree with Nan. I think it looks fine the way it is.

I think it's fine just the way it is, but if you want to quilt in the white strips, I would keep it simple, maybe large cross-hatching or larger diamonds, but I like it as is.

I like it as is but if you want to you could stitch a greek key design in the white area, it is masculine ,up to date and classic. I think adding more colors would distract the eye.

It looks pretty good as it is, unfussy and definitely not girlie so that a guy would be happy with it. Having three sons of my own I'd hazard a guess they wouldn't want flowers or vines, they'd think that was girlie. If the intended recipient has any keen interests - sports, cars, favourite football time, music etc would it be possible to appliqué appropriate motifs etc onto the white? Other than obvious masculine stuff I'd leave it and just focus on the quilting.
