Help. Ugly first quilt
#223
Hi,
1) It does NOT qualify as an ugly quilt.
2) I vote for white sashing with the blue outer border.
But, I got to thinking why you might think it was lacking something, while not ugly, it doesn't have the "zing" that some quilts have. Which blocks do you like the most? My eye is drawn to the blocks that have the greater contrast. Several of the blocks are a light medium with a medium and kind of fade together. This is one of the lessons that I continue to work on. It can help to look at your fabrics in the dark soon after sundown. This may sound silly, but your eye will see the value (how dark/light) more instead of the color.

DEfinitely NOT an ugly quilt. I'm torn between the white and the blue. I guess it would all depend on what look you're after. The white is so refreshing. I can picture it in a sunny room. I love the blue because I love blue. The blue really makes the blues and the yellows pop. I think the choice is up to you. Those are really nice blocks.

I am sure it will be lovely when it is finished - I love the blue and yellow combination. I would suggest you consider where this quilt will go before you chose either blue or white. The two colours give quite different results. Speaking personally I love the white.
Good luck finishing it! Lynette

I think the quilt is a winner. Remember, it will always look so much better when sewn together. The small pieces used as corner stones would be soooo good, another interesting design element. Don't get discouraged, you will like the blue and yellow, a combo I want to try.
