Default Help! Where does the water stop???

I have started quilting my big horse quilt on my Brother QV2400, this is the first quilt quilted on this machine.. I have the horses and the grass and some of the tree branches done but the water really has me going crazy. anyway here is my problem... where do you think I should stop quilting the water on this panel, there is no shore so can't really see where to stop... after looking at this with my DH, he and I thought that maybe quilt pass the horse in the back, maybe go to his eye and across on a angle to the side and have it stay the same as it is on the other side..

So it would look like it is larger on one side.. or do you think I should just quilt and go straight across.. there is kind of a darker color on the side by the horse in the back, about even with his eye, do think quilting that high and straight across would look better?..any help on this would be great..Thanks

Ohhhh, lovely water! I like the water edge you have quilted right now. I would outline your horses and that should anchor the upper part. I would quilt in a few grass sprigs and quilt down a few of the willow branches. You don't have to do them all just try to space the quilting every 2 to 3 inches to meet the batt requirements.

There seems to be a horizon line on the photo - except that it seems to be "uneven" -

Where that line is, seems to be a good place to stop the water.

I agree with bear. I drew a red line.

I have no advise about quilting but that is really a beautiful fabric.

As Tartan stated, you need not heavily stitch this panel but just stitch a line looking like water movement or clouds in the sky or a blade of grass. Keep it minimum and I think you will be pleased with the results. I had the same problem when quilting this top.

I think it stops below the eye of the horse drinking. the rest looks like fog or mist.
oh yes, where the red line is drawn.

I'd smooth out the red line a little, but it is about where I'd call it "water".
