How about a thread holder that has the bobbins with the same thread at the same place--like pegs or something. If you built shelves, I am sure you have some good ideas how to make it. Trying to keep my bobbins with the same spools of thread is a frustration to me.--Just a thought.

The one thing I've always wanted was an ironing board on wall hinges about 18w x 40L rectangle this way its only there when needed. I also re-purposed a couple big tackle boxes for threads and notions that stack these work out better than anything you could find in a fabric store --KEEP reading we will give you enough ideas for years to come so keep a pad and pen handy :P

Clone because although my husband is very supportive of my quilting obsession, I can't get him to shop, build, bounce ideas, and rarely set foot into my sewing room. I will, however, show him all of this post and maybe, just maybe, he'll more clearly understand just why I do what I do in that little room!! And I'd never ask him to make dinner 'in the raw' - he uses a lot of olive oil and would end up in the ER!!

I have thread cones that take up alot of room. Myself, I'd like a peg board on the wall with a spot for the thread cones. A design board is awesome.
You are so thoughtful to want to give her something that she wouldn't ask for or think of. Your a GEM!
