i am also making a hex quilt & they are 3/4" in size. i'd like to have finish the 4 sides of the quilt in the same outline as the hexes. can someone tell me how or better yet where i might view how to add batting and backing so i have the zig zag shape of the hexes. tx

I got my first flower made today it took me an hour to get it all sewn together. I think it came out rather cute.

ro, if you put "Hexi Addiction" in the search box above, the thread come up, and there is a post from Kathyd (I think that is her name) that shows how she does her borders so you keep the hexagon edges. The post is quite a ways down in that thread. The method looks so nice, and I am considering using it on the quilt I am working on now.

For carry along hand work, I'm putting together a 3 wide band of hexagons for trim on the pillow cases I'm making, and a 4 wide trim for the top sheet. Compared to the tree skirt I made years ago, this project is going like the wind. Why? When I get a pile basted (I enjoy that part too) I take the templates out and give them a good press both sides. It really does go a lot faster without those inserts, and you don't need to hold up the project because you haven't got 10 thousand of them. I think I have about 50 is all.
Mine finish at 1.5". Way cute.
I'm doing 2.5" batik, 1.5" 30's, and 1.5" mixed neutrals with the appropriate background pillowcases.

And I might do a set in my choices for this years Bonnie Hunter mystery... Why not?
