I admire you quilters who make quilts by hand, however, I would never live long enough to finsh one ..... not even a baby quilt. LOL

I love hexagon anything! I've made numberous Quilts, center pieces, table runners. I cut my templates from those nasty inserts in magazines, the postcards they want you to mail in to order something. They are free and I don't feel guilty throwing them away.

I started one last year when I was in hospital! Never thought I'd ever do Hexagons but got hooked! It is growing ....slowly!!! All 30s repro fabrics!! It will be kingsize WHEN finished!!! One of my Quilty friends suggested keeping the centre hexagon all the same colour as it helps to unify a scrappy quilt!! I used the red, but could have chosen any colour with the same effect!!

Gonna finish putting my hexie quilt together this week. My suggestion would be to start the piecing and not worry about getting it all cut out first. I'm the kind that gets bored doing too much of the same thing, so I do some cutting then some piecing...then something else (just be sure to keep the fabric for this quilt together).
I have been working on this quilt for over 5 years and it is EPP, definitely scrappy. It will be larger than full size when done and I am using 1" hexies. Hopefully I will have a picture to show soon.
Good luck with yours and enjoy the process. It can be relaxing.
